New tax on domestic LPG in Maharashtra rolled back
Buckling under pressure from all political parties and the public, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar Thursday affected a marginal rollback of a new tax he had levied in the state budget four days ago. MERC to hold public hearing to discuss power hike
On Monday and Tuesday, the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) will hold a public hearing for BEST and Reliance Infrastructure Ltd respectively. The hearing will be held at World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade at 11 am and will question the need for power hikes proposed by the distribution companies. The BEST Undertaking distributes electricity to over 10 lakh consumers from Colaba to Mahim/Sion. It has proposed a 43 per cent hike in energy charges and 31 per cent hike in fixed charges.
