From 2008 to 2011, number of people caught for rash driving had increased from 5,687 to 8,013 whereas cases registered for jumping signals had soared from 2,87,704 to 3,53,983 A fortnight ago, the state government increased fines for traffic violations by almost five times under the Motor Vehicles Act.
