Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate Yatin Wag was today elected as Mayor of Nashik. Wag polled 54 votes with the backing of BJP in the 122-member Nashik civic body. Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP abstained from voting. The Raj Thackeray-led party with 40 seats was able to muster the required numbers to win the mayoral election held today with the help of BJP - which has 14 corporators in the newly elected NMC - and with also support from Independents and others.
